This is Hands down my absolute favorite body of work the color pallet, the feel, the firing, everything. Being apart of a wood kiln is something I will never pass up on. The influx of this work maybe few and far between. Much more tinkering to come and I will keep you posted.
When life gives you lemons! The erupting earth came from a series of work I did that ended up have some surface level cracking in their bases. So I decided to add some underglaze to the crack and with such a coarse clay body the color really Popped. This will not me on all of the bases but if you are into it keep an eye out for it.
The WinterWood series was inspired by the snow covered forests of Alfred, New York. Walking to the studio in the morning and seeing the snow covered trees. The glazes blend together creating an amber and white cascade. Like clumps of snow waiting to fall off the end of a branch.
The SnowScape series is inspired from the icy peaks of mountain tops. The Way the glaze breaks on the surface. Almost mimics a small stream running down a snow covered mountain top. Paired with a dark brown or a Nero Base putting on display for everyone to see.
